This week, Trinity prayed two men into Eldership. Luke and Jeremy were brought into leadership with the blessing of David Campbell, and he was also our guest speaker. In his sermon, he explored a transformative truth: The Church is not a religious institution designed for dead rituals; it is an expression of the Kingdom of God, advancing through power and sacrificial love.

Where Israel Failed, Jesus Triumphed

The story of the Kingdom doesn't begin with us; it begins with Jesus. When the Holy Spirit descended on Him at His baptism, it wasn't for His own identity—He already knew who He was. It was His empowering as the Messiah.

Immediately after, Jesus went into the wilderness. Where the nation of Israel had failed for 40 years—succumbing to hunger, testing God, and falling into idolatry—Jesus triumphed in 40 days. He turned a symbol of defeat into a sign of victory, proving that He is the light to the nations that Israel was meant to be.

The Connection: The Spirit and the Kingdom

There is an unbreakable link between the Holy Spirit and the Kingdom. Jesus said:

"If it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you." (Matthew 12:28)

The good news for us today is that because of the Ascension, that same Spirit isn't just on Jesus—He is on all of us. We are a "priesthood of all believers." Whether you are an elder or a brand-new believer, you carry the divine energy of God’s grace.

Living in the "Impossible"

Our best human efforts operate in the realm of the possible. But the Kingdom operates in the realm of the impossible.

The early church in Acts 5 saw miracles so profound that even Peter’s shadow passing by brought healing. These weren't just "parlor tricks"; they were signs pointing to a deeper reality. We see this same power today:

  • In secular cities like Berlin, where young people are flooding to baptism.

  • In miracles of healing where doctors said "no," but God said "yes."

  • In the strength to put "one foot in front of the other" during seasons of deep depression or discouragement.

Christianity Advances Through the Cross

Unlike worldly kingdoms that advance through the sword or political shouting matches, the Kingdom of God advances through the Power of the Cross.

  • It is won through kindness.

  • It is won through service.

  • It is won through sacrifice.

If you want to win your neighbor, don't shout in their face about how wrong they are. Represent the Kingdom of love by serving them.
