A marriage that thrives, rather than survives

At Trinity, we love marriage so much that we dedicate an entire month to it.

Throughout this month, we have couples ready to minister to marriages at every stage. Whether you're preparing for marriage, already married, or facing difficulties, we're here to support you.

Marriage Month Is for Everyone

Most of us fall into one of these categories:

  1. Have been married (widowed or divorced)

  2. Are currently married

  3. Plan on getting married someday

If you're not in one of these camps, you might have a special calling that Jesus talks about at the end of Matthew 19.

A Cultural Crossroads

What's been weighing on my heart lately brings us back to Romans 1. There's a biblical account of cultural decline, and when we look at the world around us, we see a troubling parallel.

It has been said that there are 11 signs a culture is in decline and headed toward extinction: divorce, anti-child/anti-parent sentiment, meaningless marriage, heroes vilified, marriage alternatives, feminism and narcissism and hedonism, anti-family culture, adultery, childhood rebellion, juvenile delinquency, and sexual perversion. It isn't a coincidence that 9/11 of those are related to family/marriage.

God's Design for Marriage

We want to see God's design for marriage flourish. For most of us, that means one man and one woman forever. It isn't easy - and we will never imply that. But in a family centered church, we are always aiming to support marriages through counselling, ministry and community.

Let's continue to encourage marriages to thrive, not just survive.

Let's be the light. Let's be different. Let's be filled with the Holy Spirit and continue to be "others-ish."
