Next alpha will run in 2020
Alpha is an internationally recognized program that people love. It consists of a ten week series of sessions exploring Christianity. Each week we explore different concepts through open conversations. This September Trinity Church will be running the sessions here in Owen Sound. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, exploration and good conversation.
What does alpha look like?
Whether it's a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch up over coffee and cake; food has a way of bringing people together. It's no different at Alpha. Most sessions start with food because it's a great way to build community and get to know each other.
The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. They are usually around thirty minutes long and delivered over a course of ten weeks in the form of a live talk or played as a video. In these discussions we explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity including "Who is Jesus?" and "How can we have faith?".
The most important part of any Alpha is the sharing of thoughts and ideas on each topic, and the discussions in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
